Cowboy and Cowgirl Indoor Track & Field prepare for NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma State men's and women's indoor track & field travels to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday at the historic Tyson Indoor Track Center.
Multi-event athlete Olivija Vaitaityte kicks off action for OSU Friday in the Pentathlon starting at 11:15 a.m. CT in the Pent 60 Meter Hurdles. Action in the Pentathlon concludes with the 800 Meters at 5 p.m.
Immediately following is double Big 12 Champion Billah Jepkirui in the women's Mile prelims at 5:05 p.m., who is fresh off her incredible performance at the conference meet, where she won the 1,000 Meters and Mile on her way to being named Big 12 High Point Scorer. She was also the NCAA Runner-Up in the Mile two years ago in Boston.
Jepkirui enters the NCAA Championships ranked No. 1 in the NCAA in the Mile and will be looking to become the second Cowgirl in program history to win the event, with Kaela Edwards winning the national title in 2016.
Cross country All-American Isca Chelangat continues action on the track for the Cowgirls in the women's 5,000 Meters Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Chelangat is the current school record holder in the event, breaking Taylor Roe's program best with her time of 15:07.76 at the Husky Classic in February.
Denis Kipngetich kicks off the competition for the Cowboys in the men's 5K at 7:25 p.m. Kipngetich placed fifth at the 2025 NCAA Championships in the event as the Cowboys scored 14 team points with teammate Brian Musau winning the individual title last season. Kipngetich enters the meet with the third-best seed time of 13:12.91 ran at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in December.
The Cowgirl Distance Medley rounds out action on the track Friday night in the final at 8:15 p.m. The Cowgirls enter the race with the second-fastest time in NCAA history of 10:43.10 from the Arkansas Qualifier in February.
In the field, Pavana Nagaraj competes in the women's Long Jump prelims at 4:45 p.m., with the top nine jumpers advancing to Friday night's final. Nagaraj broke the school record in her first competition with the Cowgirls at 6.47 meters at the Owen Hewett Invitational in January.
Cowboy true freshman Kevin Kemboi is the lone Cowboy in action Saturday in the men's Triple Jump at 5:00 p.m. Kemboi also owns the school record in the event after breaking it multiple times during his first season in the orange and black. His current personal best sits at 16.37 meters, which ranks 12th in the NCAA entering the competition.
