Lubbock, Texas — Oklahoma State men's tennis fell to Texas Tech, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon at the McLeod Tennis Center.
The Cowboys drop to 14-6 on the season and 1-2 in league play. Texas Tech improves to 10-7 (1-2). The temperature reached highs of 99 degrees, leading to tough conditions all match long.
The Red Raiders got off to a quick start, taking the doubles point with the help of victories on courts one and two. Despite the dropped doubles point, OSU's Haydar Gokpinar and Ian Bracks won handily on court three, 6-2. This is the first win and match for Bracks and Gokpinar this season.
Texas Tech extended the lead with a win from Tyler Stewart against OSU's Derek Pham on court two, 6-1, 6-3. Court one also went the way of TTU. Niksa Arsic defeated Cowboy Nicolas Kobelt, 6-2, 6-3.
The home team clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4, win on court five from Thiago Guglieri over freshman Charlie Valentine. Despite the result, Bracks, Gokpinar and senior Aaron Williams each picked up sets on their courts before the match was clinched by Texas Tech.
The Cowboys return to Stillwater as they host top-ranked Baylor on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
