Cowgirl Golf tied for fifth after first day in Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma State's women's golf began competition at the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate Invitational on Monday, ending the day in a tie for fifth place.
The Cowgirls opened with a 283 (+3) and added a 292 (+12) in the second round, going 15-over on the day.
OSU sits 13 strokes behind first-place Stanford and 6 behind second-place Texas entering tomorrow's final round.
Four consecutive birdies on Holes 11-14 propelled Marta Silchenko to a 2-under 68 in the first round. The junior was one of just 10 golfers to sign an under-par scorecard on Monday. Her following 73 (+3) led her to a share of sixth place heading into Tuesday morning.
Freshman Yu-Chu Chen carded a consistent 73-71—144 (+4) to move into a tie for 14th. Chen's second-round 71 tied for the second-lowest 18-hole score from a Cowgirl on the day.
Grace Kilcrease shot a 4-over 74 over her opening 18 holes before improving by 2 strokes to add a 72 in the second round. The soon-to-be Augusta National Women's Amateur competitor currently sits just outside of the top 25, in a tie for 27th.
Tarapath Panya closed the day at 7 strokes over par. Ellie Bushnell enters Tuesday at 8-over.
The Cowgirls return to action tomorrow at 8:15 a.m. CDT for the third and final round of the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate Invitational.
