CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Oklahoma State women's golf team resumed play at the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional on Tuesday, moving into third place after the tournament's second round.
The Cowgirls combined for a 3-over 283, good for the third-lowest team total on the day and a one-spot jump up the leaderboard. OSU trails first-place Texas by 15 shots and second-place North Carolina by 11 heading into Wednesday's third and final round.
Marta Silchenko, the nation's No. 29-ranked golfer, led the Cowgirls with a 2-under 68. The round marked Silchenko's 11th in the 60s this season and her 16th at par-or-better. Silchenko has posted a field-best 11 birdies and currently holds a share of fifth place individually.
Freshman standout Yu-Chu Chen carded her second consecutive 69 (-1), joining Silchenko in fifth place at 2-under. Chen has played six of her last eight rounds at par-or-better and has now posted nine such rounds this season.
Tarapath Panya followed up yesterday's 71 (+1) with a 72 (+2) on Tuesday. At 3-over for the week, the sophomore sits in a tie for 24th with 18 holes left to play.
Ellie Bushnell battled back from a 4-over front nine with an even-par second half to finish with a 74 (+4). Summer Lee added a 76.
The Cowgirls return to the Finley Golf Club on Wednesday morning for the third and final round of the Chapel Hill Regional. A top-5 finish would secure Oklahoma State's sixth consecutive NCAA Championship appearance.
