April 18, 2026 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's and women's outdoor track & field competed up and down the west coast Thursday and Friday, with two athletes competing in California and the rest at the Oregon Team Invitational in Eugene.
At the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., Annie Molenhouse kicked off the weekend in spectacular fashion, breaking the program record in the Heptathlon with her score of 5,913 points. After a few tough events to start the day, Molenhouse caught fire over the final four events, setting personal bests in three of the four. With her performance, Molenhouse moves to No. 3 in the NCAA this season. The previous record was set by Bailey Golden at the Jim Click Shootout in 2024 at 5,887 points, for which she was later named Big 12 Outdoor Athlete of the Week.
Just across town in Azusa, Calif., Denis Kipngetich clocked the second-fastest time in the NCAA this season in the 5,000 Meters with a personal-best time of 13:13.43, a 17-second improvement from his previous best outdoors. Kipngetich's time ranks as the second best in program history and the tenth best in NCAA history during the outdoor season.
At the Oregon Team Invitational in Eugene, the Cowgirls lead the seven team field, with the Cowboys third in a five team field after the first day of competition. In the first event of the day, four Cowgirls placed in the top five collegiate athletes in the women's Hammer Throw to give OSU the lead after just one event. Sophomore Rylee Jenkins threw 63.56 meters, followed up by senior Rachel Neaves' throw of 62.93 meters, allowing the Cowgirls to grab 27 points from the event.
True freshman Burklie Burton finished in fourth place with a 61.70-meter throw, and junior Sutton Howard rounded out the top five with a toss of 56.71 meters. Jenkins' and Burton's throws were enough to place them fourth and fifth in program history, respectively.
Later in the day, Steven Schmidt earned a decisive victory in the men's High Jump invite. He was the only athlete to successfully clear the 2.10-meter mark and came only one centimeter shy of hitting his personal best. The first-place finish marks his second consecutive win in the high jump event following his victory at the Texas Relays in the Decathlon.
Continuing in the field, Nate Collier claimed second in the men's Discus Throw, logging a mark of meters during his fifth attempt of the series. The program record holder has placed in the top three at all three Discus events he has competed in this season, clearing the 55-meter mark each time.
On the track, Isca Chelangat crushed the competition in the women's 5,000 Meter Invite, taking home first by over 27 seconds with a personal-best time of 15:16.67. Her time is the second fastest in program history, less than two seconds behind the program record set by Taylor Roe in the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials. It also holds the third fastest time recorded in the NCAA this season entering this weekend.
On the men's side, two Cowboy upperclassmen wrapped up the night with finishes in the top three in the men's 5,000 Meters. Keegan Thomas took gold with a time of 14:09.52, blasting through the final 400 meters in under a minute to move from third place to first. Fellow junior Ethan Stovall came in close behind, finishing in third place with a new personal-best time of 14:13.69 to give the Cowboys 18 team points in the event.
In the open 400 Meters, OSU swept the men's and women's individual titles in dominating fashion. Senior Hafez Mahadi clocked a time of 47.58 in his first open 400 in the Orange and Black, winning by over a second overall. For the Cowgirls, senior Jinah Mickens-Malik also won by over a second with her time of 54.69 for an outdoor personal best.
Action in Oregon continues Saturday with the second and final day of the Oregon Team Invitational, with competition kicking off at 6:45 p.m. CT on Big Ten Network.
