Wyatt Hendrickson Wins Final X; Earns World Team Spot
June 19, 2026 | Cowboy Wrestling
Newark, NJ - For the second straight year, former Cowboy wrestler and NCAA champion Wyatt Hendrickson has earned a spot on Team USA by winning Final X at the 125kg weight class, sweeping Mason Parris in a best-of-three series Friday night at the Prudential Center. Â
Hendrickson, the Hodge Trophy winner in his sole season as a Cowboy, controlled each of his bouts with Parris, winning each by four and six points. Hendrickson has been training with the Cowboy RTC since he last competed with the Pokes and will now take on the world stage in Bahrain from October 24-November 1. Over the last two seasons, Hendrickson has not lost a bout at Final X.
Fellow NCAA champion Jax Forrest came close to a second-straight World Team spot at 61kg. After dropping his first match to Penn State's Marcus Blaze, he came back in match two and took the win with a 6-1 decision to force a third bout for the top World Team spot. Forrest held a small advantage at the intermission of match three, but was unable to finish the job, with Blaze taking it via decision.
Similarly, Cowboy RTC member and reigning World Champion Zahid Valencia won his first match in the best-of-three series against Kyle Dake, whom he beat at last year's Final X, with a tight 3-2 decision. Dake came out and rattled off two straight over Valencia to take the top spot on Team USA.Â
Former Cowboy Dustin Plott and reigning NCAA Champion Landon Robideau each won their true-third matches and will be a part of the national team.
