Day 1 Results
SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened its fall slate with a 36-hole total of 576 at the Sahalee Players Championship on Saturday to hold a 11-shot lead over the field at Sahalee Country Club.
The second-ranked Cowboys opened with a 2-under 286 during their morning round before posting a 290 in the afternoon for their even-par tally at the par-72, 7,007-yard layout.
Illinois finished the day in second at 587, while Florida was third at 588.
Senior Eric Lee led the way for OSU with a pair of 70s to finish the day alone in second place at 4-under 140. Lee's first round began on the 10th tee with his lone bogey of the round before he quickly bounced back with a birdie at the 11th. After a double bogey at the 13th, he added a birdie at the 16th to turn in 1-over 37. He would reel off birdies at Nos. 1, 2 and 3 before closing the round with six consecutive pars.Â
During his afternoon round, Lee once again turned in 1-over 37 before moving back to even with a birdie at the second. After a bogey at the third, he would birdie four of the next five to get to 3-under before posting a bogey on his final hole to once again post a 2-under score.
Lee was joined in the top five by senior Preston Stout, who carded a pair of 72s to share fifth place at even-par 144.Â
Senior Gaven Lane followed an opening 71 with a 74 to finish the day tied for seventh place at 145.
Senior Ethan Fang signed for rounds of 73 and 74 to share 14th place at 147.
Fifth year John Wild rounded out the starting five with a 153 total after posting scores of 77 and 76 to come in tied for 46th place.
Redshirt sophomore Brady Catalano is competing individually and posted rounds of 81 and 85 to finish at 166 and tied for 71st place.
