SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened its fall slate with a convincing victory at the Sahalee Players Championship, rolling to a 28-shot victory on Sunday at Sahalee Country Club.
The second-ranked Cowboys entered the final round with an 11-shot cushion before posting a 4-under 284 to pull away from the field. OSU finished at 4-under 860, while Florida was second with its 888 total at the par-72, 7,007-yard layout.
OSU's margin of victory was its largest since claiming the stroke play portion of the 2019 NCAA Championship by 31 strokes.
The Cowboys were led by their senior quartet of Eric Lee, Gaven Lane, Ethan Fang and Preston Stout, who all finished in the top five.
Lee earned a runner-up showing after posting a closing 71 to finish at 5-under 211. Washington's Finn Koelle made a hole-in-one on at the par-3 ninth, his final hole of the day, two clip Lee by two shots.
Lane posted his low round of the event, a 2-under 70, to climb three spots into fourth place with his 1-under total of 215.
Fang and Stout shared fifth place at 217. Fang also turned in his low tally of the event with a 70, while Stout closed with a 73 to get to his 1-over total.
Fifth year John Wild tied for 48th place at 231 after closing with a 78.
Redshirt sophomore Brady Catalano competed in the event individually and signed for a 78 as well to finish in a tie for 70th at 244.Â
The Cowboys will be back in action on Sept. 18 when they travel to Illinois for the Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club.
