Cowboy Wrestling unveils 2026-27 schedule

STILLWATER - Oklahoma State wrestling and head coach David Taylor announced the schedule for the 2026-27 season Thursday, highlighted by seven opportunities to see the Cowboys compete in Stillwater.
OSU will host six duals this season and seven events at historic Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowboys will face nine opponents that were featured on last year's slate, with OSU defeating all nine by an average margin of 21.8 points.
The Pokes begin the campaign November 1 with the OSU Invite, a first of its kind tournament designed for revenue generation, in which three mats will be on the floor of Gallagher-Iba Arena. Gardner-Webb, Little Rock and SIU-Edwardsville make the trip to Stillwater to compete with the Cowboys in the individual tournament.
Dual action gets underway a week later as the Cowboys host Drexel November 8. OSU is undefeated against Drexel,with the Cowboys winning a 45-0 shutout in the last match in 2021.Â
Friday, November 13, sees a primetime matchup with regional rival Nebraska at Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowboys are 25-1 at home against the Cornhuskers. Last season, Taylor and the Cowboys went 2-0 against Nebraska, picking up wins at the National Duals and in Lincoln.
The Pokes then head to the west coast for the first road trip of the season. November 20, OSU returns to Tempe, Arizona, for the second-straight season to take on Arizona State in its first Big 12 dual. The Pokes defeated the Sun Devils, 25-11, in last season's showcase. The match marks the return to his home state for Arizona native and undefeated freshman national champion Sergio Vega, who grew up in Tucson.
The back half of the trip involves a trip to Stanford for a match with the Cardinal on November 22. The Cowboys have only visited Stanford once, winning that match to open the 2021 season. Oklahoma State has never lost to Stanford in a dual.
December features multiple tournaments for the Cowboys, beginning on December 6 when the Cowboys head to Edwardsville, Illinois, for the Cougar Clash. The following weekend features the return to Oklahoma and the BOK Center for the second annual National Duals sponsored by Paycom. The 16-team tournament will feature a prize pool of more than $1.2 million. OSU took third place in last season's edition of the tournament.
Following a winter break, OSU returns to dual action at home on Jan. 10, hosting its first conference match of the season against Missouri and followed a week later with a dual against West Virginia on January 17 in Stillwater.Â
This year's edition of Bedlam will take place in Norman on Sunday, January 24. OSU holds a staggering 153-27-10 record over Oklahoma and has won the last 21 meetings. Last season, the Cowboys shutout OU, 37-0, with national champion Jax Forrest making his collegiate debut.
The Cowboys close out January with its first of three duals in Iowa. Starting on January 29, the Pokes take on Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, then head to Ames to face off against Iowa State just two days later January 31 at Hilton Coliseum. OSU hasn't lost at either Iowa school since 2023.
The home slate ends February 12-13, with two home duals in two days. First OSU faces Wyoming in a battle of the Cowboys on Friday night, then the Pokes host Utah Valley for the first time ever on Saturday. The Cowboys were scheduled to host the Wolverines last season, but the match didn't take place due to inclement weather that prevented travel.
The regular season ends with a familiar foe in Iowa. The Pokes travel to Iowa City, Iowa, for a battle with a Hawkeyes, looking to pick up their first win in Carver-Hawkeye Arena since 2012. OSU holds a 30-28-2 historical advantage over the Hawkeyes.
The postseason begins with a return to the BOK Center in Tulsa for the Big 12 Championships, where the Cowboys look for a third-straight team title from March 5-6.
The season comes to a close at the NCAA Championships, schedule for March 18-20 at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
