Graduate assistant Tre Cobbs begins his first season at Oklahoma State
Â
Cobbs worked with head coach Steve Lutz in a similar capacity at Western Kentucky during the 2023-24 season and helped the Hilltoppers to the Conference USA tournament title and the program’s first NCAA tournament appearance in 11 years.
Â
Prior to that, the Ohio native spent the 2022-23 season at Memphis working under Penny Hardaway and helped the Tigers to 26 wins and an at-large berth in the NCAA tournament.
Â
As a player, Cobbs was also part of a wildly successful four-year run at Northern Kentucky that included 95 wins, three Horizon League tournament championships and a pair of regular season titles.
Â
A couple of short-term setbacks -- a knee injury and the COVID-19 pandemic – turned into long term opportunities for Cobbs. He transferred to Kentucky Wesleyan for the 2020-21 season, earning  first team all-conference honors, and then finished his career in 2021-22 as a starting guard at Georgia Southern.
Â
An Ohio native, Cobbs was a 1,000-point scorer and two-time state champion at Lima Central Catholic High School. He averaged just under 20 points per game as a senior on his way to first team all-state honors.
Â
The Ohio native owns bachelor’s degrees from both Northern Kentucky (Organizational Leadership) and Kentucky Wesleyan (Communications).
