Mark Ginther is in his fourth season on OSU’s full-time staff and will serve a third season as the Cowboys’ volunteer assistant coach in 2018. Ginther moved into that role following a year as OSU’s player development coordinator as he continues a career with the program that began as a player.
Ginther was a four-year letterwinner for the Cowboys from 2009-12. Primarily a third baseman, the Tulsa native played in 209 career games and recorded a .296 batting average, 32 home runs, 140 RBIs and 50 doubles and ranks in the top 10 all-time at OSU in doubles and at-bats. He was a two-time honorable mention All-Big 12 performer and played on two NCAA Tournament teams during his tenure.
Ginther was selected in the Major League Baseball Draft three times, once following his prep career at Jenks High School and twice while at OSU. Following his senior season with the Cowboys, he was a 24th-round pick of Arizona and played in 62 games with the Yakima Bears at the Class-A Short Season level in 2012.
Following his professional playing career, Ginther returned to Stillwater and served as the Cowboys’ volunteer student coach then as a graduate manager.
Ginther earned his degree in management from OSU in 2013. He and his wife, Taylor, welcomed their first child, a daughter, in 2017.
