Cowboy Tennis Falls in Norman

NORMAN, Okla. – The Oklahoma State men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 26 Oklahoma Wednesday, moving to 3-10 overall and 0-4 in Big 12 play.
The first team point of the dual came down to the wire in doubles play.
After the Sooners won at No. 3 and OSU's Maniel Bains and Eric West earned an upset win over OU's 42nd-ranked duo of Costin Paval and Perrakit Siributwong at No. 2, the point would be decided in a tiebreaker on the No. 1 court.
OU's Ionut Beleleu and Tsvetan Mihov would eventually defeat Cowboys Aleksey Bessonov and Vlad Bondarenko, 9-8(1), to give Oklahoma a 1-0 advantage entering singles play.
The Sooners claimed the first five singles matches completed, but Ilija Martinoski was able to earn a point for the Cowboys with his straight-set win over Mihov at No. 6.
OSU' Bessonov and West took their matches to third sets on the Nos. 4 and 5 courts, respectively, but were unable to clinch victories in closely contested final sets.
Oklahoma State returns to action April 9 as it takes on Abilene Christian at the DeBois Tennis Complex in Stillwater.
