Austin, Texas -- Texas scored four unearned runs in the bottom of the second and the fifth-ranked Longhorns defeated Oklahoma State in Big 12 softball action, 5-1, here Sunday afternoon before 1,105 fans at McCombs Field.

With two outs and runners on first and second, UT's Mandy Ogle hit a pop up to the right side of the infield. First baseman Julie Ward appeared to have a chance at the ball, but second baseman Ari Morrison called her off, then proceeded to bobble the ball and kick it into foul territory. Nadia Taylor scored from second, giving the Longhorns a 1-0 lead. A double by Taylor Thom in the next at-bat scored two more, and Thom scored on a base hit by Taylor Hoagland for a 4-0 lead. Texas made it 5-0 on a sacrifice fly in the third.

Just two Cowgirls reached base through the first three innings. Shelby Davis led off the game with a bunt single, but later was picked off second on a double play. Gessenia DeLaCruz walked to lead off the third, but was stranded at second. With one out in the fourth, Tamara Brown and Ward both walked, and with two outs, Brown scored on an RBI single by Amy Graham.

Morrison walked and stole second in the fifth, and with two outs, Anchors walked as well. However, Brown popped up to second to finish off the frame. Pinch hitter Kelsea Schultz was hit by a pitch to start off the seventh, but with one out, Davis grounded out to short and Schultz was tagged out trying for third for a game-ending double play.

Oklahoma State (23-18 overall, 6-8 Big 12) will travel to Norman, Okla., on Wednesday, April 25, for the final game of Bedlam against the Oklahoma Sooners. First pitch at Marita Hynes Field is set for 7 pm.
