Cowboy Tennis Falls At No. 1 Texas

AUSTIN, Texas – Oklahoma State's men's tennis team fell to No. 1 Texas, 5-2, on Friday night at the Texas Tennis Center.
The No. 34 Cowboys moved to 12-7 on the season, while Texas improved to 17-2.
In doubles, Texas' court one duo, No. 4 Eliot Spizzirri and Cleeve Harper, defeated Chase Ferguson and Tyler Zink, 6-1. The Longhorns snagged the deciding doubles point when Chih Chi Huang and Evin McDonald dropped Alex Garcia and Francisco Pini, 6-3 on court three.
In singles action, Texas' No. 1 Spizzirri bested No. 90 Zink, 6-2, 6-3 on the featured court, increasing the Longhorn lead to 2-0. No. 29 Siem Woldeab added to the Texas lead, beating Ferguson, 6-3, 6-3.
Isaac Becroft put the Cowboys on the board when he trumped No. 36 Pierre-Yves Bailly in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. Becroft improved to 9-2 in singles play this season.
McDonald clinched the match for Texas when he defeated Basile in a second-set tie breaker, 6-4, 7-6(7).
While Pini and Garcia both forced third sets, Pini fell in a super tie breaker, 6-4, 3-6, 0-1(5). OSU's Garcia played out his match, beating Harper, 1-6, 6-3, 7-5, bringing the final score to 5-2 in favor of the Longhorns.
The Cowboys return to action on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. (CST) against No. 3 TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.
