Cowboys Rout Utah, 4-0, at ITA Kickoff Weekend

AUSTIN, Texas – Oklahoma State's men's tennis team decisively dropped Utah, 4-0, on the first day of action at the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Saturday at the Texas Tennis Center.
With the win, the Pokes improved to 4-0, while Utah fell to 1-1. OSU will face the winner of UTSA or Texas tomorrow in the Austin ITA Kickoff Finals.
In a match that lasted less than two hours, OSU got its first opportunity to play outdoors in 2024.
Starting with doubles, Oklahoma State's Alessio Basile and Isaac Becroft defeated Jayson Blando and Michael Blando, 6-4, on court two to give OSU the slight advantage.
With two matches remaining, Cowboys Leighton Allen and freshman Erik Schiessl dropped Dylan Applegate and Geremia Rossi, to claim the doubles point.
Heading into singles with a 1-0 lead, the Pokes came out with a burst, collecting all six first sets. Basile's match on court four was the first to finish, with a commanding win over Applegate, 6-2, 6-0.
Less than two minutes later, Garcia followed with another decisive victory over Utah's Bruno Krenn, 6-1, 6-2, extending the OSU lead to 3-0.
OSU was close to clinching the match on three courts, but ultimately Becroft sealed the deal, besting Utah's Jayson Blando, 6-1, 6-3.
The Cowboys will return to action tomorrow at 1 p.m. CST at the Texas Tennis Center.
