Cowboys Tennis Gets Back in Win Column with Victory Over Tulsa

STILLWATER— Oklahoma State's men's tennis team returned to the win column on Tuesday evening, defeating the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, 4-1, at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
The win improved the Pokes to 12-4 on the season, while Tulsa dropped to 6-10.
Isaac Becroft and Alessio Basile started doubles action with a dominant 6-1 win over Tulsa's Thiago Pernas and Gus Tettamble. The Becroft and Basile duo jumped to a team-best 9-3 record on the year.
Tulsa's Victor Tosetto and Alex Okonkwo took down Goran Zgola and Francisco Pini, 6-1, to get on the board.
The Hurricane clinched the doubles point as No. 55 Pierce Rollins and Timothy Carlsson Seger took down Tyler Zink and Alex Garcia, 6-3.
However, the Cowboys answered back in a big way, winning all six of their first sets in singles play, three of which came via tiebreakers.
Erik Schiessl got the Pokes on the board, winning his match against Volodomyr Zakharov, 6-4, 6-3. The win improved Schiessl's singles record to 9-1 on the season.
Francisco Pini gave the Cowboys a 2-1 lead, beating Victor Tosetto in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.
Minutes later after being down 4-0 in the first set, No. 62 Garcia battled his way back to win the set and carried the momentum to win the match in two sets, 7-6(4), 6-4. Garcia improved his singles record to 9-4 and incrased OSU's lead to 3-1.
Carrying a No. 26 ranking, Zink took court one, securing the Cowboys' victory, taking down Tulsa's Rollins, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Zink improved his singles record to 11-4.
With the team victory secured, Becroft's match against Pernas and Basile's match against Okonkwo went unfinished.
The Pokes will return to action on Saturday when they host No. 11 Illinois at the Greenwood Tennis Center at 2 p.m.CT.
