Cowboy Tennis Falls Short to UCF at ITA Kickoff Weekend

TUCSON, Ariz. — Oklahoma State's men's tennis team dropped its semifinal match at the ITA Kickoff Weekend to UCF, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Robson Tennis Center.
The win improves the Knights to 6-0, while the loss drops the Cowboys to 0-3.
The match opened in doubles where UCF's Mehdi Benchakroun and Santiago Giamichelle defeated Nicolas Kobelt and Ian Bracks, 6-3, on court three before OSU's veteran duo of Isaac Becroft and Alessio Basile took down Paul Colin and Liam Branger, 6-3, on court one.
With the doubles point on the line, UCF's Yassine Dlimi and Emilio Sanchez defeated Thomas Gadecki and Derek Pham, 6-4.
The Knights picked up a second point on court two as Dlimi defeated Basile, 6-3, 6-1.
UCF then picked up back-to-back points to clinch the match, with Giamichelle taking down Bracks for his first loss of the season in singles, 6-4, 6-4, and Branger besting Kobelt, 6-3, 7-5.
OSU left a trio of matches unfinished in the loss. Matei Onofrei fell shy of grabbing his first win as a Cowboy due to the loss, as he led Nicolas Olivera, 6-4, 6-6. No. 108 Becroft led Colin, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0, and Pham trailed Branger, 1-6, 6-6.
OSU is set to face the loser of No. 6 Arizona and USC at 11 a.m. CT tomorrow at the Robson Tennis Center to wrap up ITA Kickoff Weekend.
