Cowboy Tennis Sweeps Saint Louis for First Win

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season, defeating Saint Louis, 7-0, in its first home match of the season on Friday night.
The win improves the Cowboys to 1-4, while the loss drops Billikens to 1-3.
Alessio Basile and Nicolas Kobelt started doubles action with a commanding win over St. Louis' Andres Castellanos and Luca Lo Nardo, 6-1. Moments later, Isaac Becroft and Derek Pham claimed the doubles point with a 6-1 victory over Valentin Vasquez and Riki Koshimizu.
Ben Stecker, making his collegiate debut, and Matei Onofrei rounded out doubles play, taking court three and defeating Saint Louis' Max Chen and Sebastian Munoz, 6-3.
Singles action saw six straight-set sweeps for the Cowboys.
Kobelt grabbed the second point of the match after taking down Koshimizu, 6-2, 6-2. This moves him to a 2-1 in singles play this season.
On court three, Pham downed Vasquez, 6-1, 6-2, to push the match to the brink.
To clinch the victory, Ian Bracks defeated Chen on court three, 6-2, 6-2. Bracks leads the Cowboys in singles wins this season with three.
No. 108 Becroft bested Andres Castellanos on court one, 6-1, 7-5, and Alessio Basile downed Luca Lo Nardo on court two, 6-4, 6-2, as the Cowboys pushed their lead to 6-0.
Onofrei rounded out the match with his first collegiate win, defeating Munoz, 7-5, 6-3.
OSU faces Nebraska in the final match of this homestand on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m.
