Cowboy Tennis Heads to Lone Star State for Pair of Conference Matches

The Basics
Oklahoma State's men's tennis team continues its five-match road trip as it faces No. 2 TCU on April 3 at 5:30 p.m. at the Friedman Tennis Center and No. 17 Baylor on April 6 at 1 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center. Oklahoma State is 0-3 against schools currently ranked in ITA's Top 25. OSU's last win over a top-5 program came last season against No. 5 USC and the last time the Cowboys defeated a top-5 team on the road was in 2017 at No. 3 Baylor. OSU aims to defeat TCU for the first time since 2019 and seeks back-to-back wins over Baylor for the first time since 2017-18. Oklahoma State has not had back-to-back wins over top-25 opponents since 2021.

Meet the Cowboys
Graduate student Isaac Becroft leads the Cowboys. The captain is one of five returning players from last year's 18-10 squad that went to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Other returners include Alessio Basile, Francisco Pini, Derek Pham, and Ty Wunderlich. Head Coach Dustin Taylor brought in six freshmen in this year's recruiting class, including Tennessee transfer Nicolas Kobelt, Ian Bracks, Thomas Gadecki, Matei Onofrei, Ben Stecker, and Finn Hopfe.

As of March 31, the Cowboys checked in at No. 5 in the Big 12 Preseason Coaches Poll after finishing fourth at the Big 12 Championship in the 2024 season. Isaac Becroft, currently 6-7Â on the season, is the lone ranked singles player coming in at No. 107. The Cowboy tandem of Alessio Basile and Nicolas Kobelt checked in at No. 88 in doubles. The duo is 6-5Â overall and 1-3Â against ranked opponents.
