Cowboy Basketball signs 'dynamic wing' Isaiah Coleman
April 09, 2025 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER -- One of the Big East Conference's top scorers is headed to Stillwater.
Â
Oklahoma State coach Steve Lutz announced the signing of Seton Hall transfer Isaiah Coleman today.
Â
The 6-foot-5 guard played the past two seasons in East Orange, averaging team-highs of 15.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals as a sophomore. He was also a key reserve on the Pirates' 2024 NIT championship squad, earning Big East All-Freshman honors.
Â
"Isaiah was at the top of every opponent scouting report last year but still found ways to put the ball in the basket at a high rate." Lutz said. "He's a dynamic wing who has the potential to impact both ends of the floor with his size and athleticism. He is a player who can score the ball in a variety of different ways. We're excited to welcome him to the Cowboy Basketball family."
Â
Coleman logged 29 starts for Seton Hall in 2024-25 and had 11 games with 20 or more points, including a career-high 27 at Marquette.
Â
The Fredericksburg, Va. native was at his best in Big East play, averaging 17.0 points (tied for seventh on the league leaderboard) and 6.0 rebounds (12th). In his 20 games against conference opponents, Coleman led the Seton Hall scoring 15 times while accounting for more than a quarter of the team's total points (27.8%).
Â
The signature moment in Coleman's sophomore season came Jan. 8 against DePaul when he hit a game-tying three-pointer with 4.5 seconds left to send the game into overtime. He finished with 24 points on 4-of-7 three-point shooting in an eventual 85-80 Pirate victory.
Â
Coleman also played all 40 minutes in a 21-point, 10-rebound effort at Georgetown and logged 23 points in 42 minutes to key an overtime upset of two-time defending national champion UConn.
Â
OSU fans witnessed Coleman's handywork first-hand during a Dec. 8 meeting between the schools in Newark when he put up 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting, as well as at the Charleston Classic, where he earned all-tournament honors, helped by big games against Vanderbilt (20 points) and VCU (12 pts, 10 reb).
Â
As a freshman, Coleman was a key reserve, averaging 5.4 points and 2.6 rebounds while twice earning Big East Freshman of the Week status. He played an important role in Seton Hall's NIT title run with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting in the quarterfinal victory over North Texas.
Â
A former four-star recruit, ranked 114th in the Class of 2023 per 247Sports Composite, Coleman averaged 16 points as a senior at Word of God Christian Academy in Fort Washington, Md.
Â
Coleman is OSU's fourth spring transfer portal addition, joining guards Kanye Clary (Mississippi State), Vyctorius Miller (LSU) and Anthony Roy (Green Bay).
