Cowgirl Softball lands in-state talent Preslee Downing
July 21, 2025 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Softball has added to its freshman class with the signing of right-handed pitcher Preslee Downing, head coach Kenny Gajewski announced today.
Downing joins the OSU freshman class of 2025 and will have four years of eligibility in Stillwater.
"After Preslee de-committed from her previous school, she was someone that we had real interest in," Gajewski said. "We love her bulldog mentality and the way she attacks the strike zone. We're looking forward to her making an impact in her first year."
An Owasso, Okla., native, Downing is coming off a senior season in which she earned Tulsa World All-World Player of the Year honors after guiding the Rams to a state championship behind a 24-3 record in the circle with a 1.10 ERA and 261 strikeouts in 162.1 innings pitched.
A three-time 6A-1 District Pitcher of the Year and four-time regional champion, Downing boasts a 76-9 career record with a 1.11 ERA and 705 career strikeouts.
"Being a Cowgirl means everything to me," Downing said. "I've played softball my whole life dreaming of a moment like this; competing for a major program, representing my home state, and wearing a jersey that actually means something to the people around me."
"It's more than just softball now. It's pride, loyalty, and a chance to be part of something bigger than myself. I don't take that lightly, and I'm ready to give everything I've got."
Downing will reunite with fellow incoming freshman and Owasso teammate Jayelle Austin, with whom she also played travel softball with for the Oklahoma Athletics National 18u Madden for nine years.
