Cowgirl Golf ranked No. 20 in Golfweek's preseason poll

STILLWATER – Golfweek announced Wednesday that Oklahoma State is No. 20 in its women's college golf preseason team rankings.

This ranking comes on the heels of an impressive 2024-25 season that saw the Cowgirls earn a top 15 spot at the NCAA Championships.

Head coach Annie Young leads OSU in the first season of her second stint as head coach. Young, who is among the most decorated players in program history, previously served as the team's head coach from 2008-11, leading the Cowgirls to a Big 12 Championship in 2009 and coaching the program's first individual NCAA Champion, Caroline Hedwall, in 2010.

It's great to be respected and get votes to begin the season, but ultimately the preseason rankings don't mean anything, said head coach Annie Young. We are going to go about our business this year, hoping to grow and continue to get better. We will see how it all shakes out come the end of May.

OSU returns seven of nine golfers from last year's team, led by 34th-ranked senior Grace Kilcrease, 58th-ranked junior Marta Silchenko, and 130th-ranked junior Ellie Bushnell.

Also returning are sophomores Lucy Darr, Summer Lee and Tarapath Panya, as well as junior Sammie Miller. The Cowgirls will be further bolstered by incoming freshmen Yu-Chu Chen and Sophia Ellestad.

Oklahoma State is the second-highest ranked Big 12 program on Golfweek's list, trailing only No. 5 Arizona State and leading No. 24 TCU, No. 26 Arizona, No. 28 Iowa State, and No. 30 Kansas.

Cowgirl Golf kicks off its 2025-26 season at the Carmel Cup in Pebble Beach, Calif., from Aug. 29-31.
