Cowgirl Softball drops fall season opener against USA Softball U-18 Team

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State Softball team fell in its fall exhibition season opener, 7-1, against the USA Softball U-18 team on Tuesday evening at Cowgirl Stadium.
Senior Ruby Meylan got the start in the circle for the Pokes and fell to 0-1 in the fall season, while Team USA's Madelyn Doty earned the win for the Eagles.
With both teams held scoreless through three innings, Team USA took the lead in the top of the fourth after capitalizing on an OSU fielding error. The Cowgirls responded in the bottom half of the inning as Tia Warsop drove in Kaya Booker with an RBI double to tie the game at one apiece.
From there, Team USA added a run in the fifth, two runs in the eighth and three runs in the tenth to secure the win, 7-1.
The Cowgirls threw four pitchers in the 10-inning contest, with Meylan and RyLee Crandall combining for 6.0 innings of work, while Madison Hoffman and Preslee Downing added 2.0 innings each.
The fall exhibition season continues on Friday, Oct. 3, against McLennan JC at 6 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium.
