Cowboy Golf Duo Helps U.S. To Walker Cup Victory

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Oklahoma State's Ethan Fang and Preston Stout were instrumental in helping the United States emerge victorious at the 2025 Walker Cup Match over the weekend at Cypress Point Club.
The U.S. defeated Great Britain and Ireland, 17-9, and now leads the all-time series against GB&I, 40-9-1.
During the Saturday Singles session, Stout rolled to a 6-and-5 victory over Charlie Forster. Stout won two of the first three holes before winning the fifth to take a 3-up lead. Forster's lone win came at the seventh before the Cowboy All-American reeled off three consecutive wins to take a commanding 5-up lead with eight holes remaining. He would claim the 12th before tying the 13th to finish the match.
Fang would tie his match with Stuart Gehan to secure a half point for the U.S. side.
On Sunday, it was Fang who delivered a decisive singles victory, rolling to a 5-and-4 win over Gehan. The Cowboy junior won the third and fourth to move in front, 2-up. Grehan's lone win came at the sixth. OSU's All-American would take firm control of the match with wins at Nos. 9, 10 and 11. He would win the 13th and tie the 14th to close the match and secure a full point.
Stout delivered the clinching point for the Americans with his 2-and-1 victory over Luke Poulter. Stout won the second before Poulter pulled event at the fifth. The Cowboy junior would claim the next two holes before Poulter would answer with wins at the eighth and ninth.
However, Stout would once again take control with wins at Nos. 12 and 13. After Poulter pulled within one with a win at the 16th before Stout hit his approach to two feet to seal the match with a birdie at the 17th.
