Mestemaker, Young on Pony Express Award watch list
October 15, 2026 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker and wide receiver Wyatt Young make up one of 26 duos in the FBS included on the 2026 watch list for the Pony Express Award, which is a regular season award that honors the best tandem in college football, regardless of position.
The award was established by former SMU players Craig James and Eric Dickerson, who created the honor "to celebrate selflessness, collaboration and true team excellence," as well as "an unshakable team-first mindset."
The duo has connected for 462 yards and three touchdowns so far this season, and they rank among the FBS top 15 in passing and receiving yards per game, respectively. They have also connected four times for 40-plus yard completions this season, ranking as the third-most in the nation.
The Pony Express Award winners are not limited to the watch list, as new candidates continually present themselves as the season continues. The winners will be announced in December.
Season tickets are sold out to Oklahoma State football games this year, but there are still opportunities to get tickets to see the Cowboys in Stillwater. The November 28 game against Kansas is the only home game left on this year's schedule that is not yet sold out.
Tickets are available at www.okstate.com/tickets or by contacting the ticket office at 877-255-4678. Fans can still secure their tickets to sold out games through SeatGeek, the official secondary partner of OSU Athletics.
