STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's and women's cross country conclude regular season action on Saturday as they host the fourth annual Weis-Crockett Invitational at the state-of-the-art Greiner Family Cross Country Course in Stillwater.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will each compete in the four team meet with East Texas A&M, Kansas State and Oral Roberts as they wrap up regular season play. The men's 8K opens action at the Greiner Family Cross Country Course at 10:00 a.m. CT, with the women's 6K immediately following at 10:45 a.m. Live results for Saturday's meet can be found here.
The OSU men enter this weekend ranked No. 2 after a second-place finish at the Cowboy Jamboree behind then-No. 2 New Mexico. Three Cowboys are ranked in the latest FloTrack individual rankings, with No. 5 Denis Kipngetich, No. 7 Brian Musau and No. 31 Adisu Guadie. Kipngetich won the 2024 edition of the Weis-Crockett Invitational with a meet-record time of 23:26.0.
The Cowgirls enter the Weis-Crockett Invitational as one of the hottest teams in the country, up seven spots to No. 8 in the USTFCCCA polls from their preseason No. 15 ranking. Individually, Billah Jepkirui and Maureen Rutoh are ranked No. 1 and No. 3 in the latest FloTrack rankings after each defeated two-time NCAA champion Jane Hedengren of BYU at the Cowboy Jamboree.
Jepkirui (2022) and Rutoh (2025) each have individual wins at the Weis-Crockett Invitational, joined by Lauren Ping in 2024 as the Cowgirls are three-for-three on claiming the individual titles at this meet.
On the team side, OSU has swept the team titles in each of the past two years, with the Cowgirls scoring a perfect 15 points at the last two editions.
The Weis-Crockett Invitational is named after two OSU cross country legends Dick Weis and Jerry Crockett, both of whom serving the program for several decades.
Weis began his Oklahoma State career in 1983 as the men's and women's cross country and track and field head coach, leading the Cowgirls to back-to-back NCAA Cross Country Championship appearances in 1988 and 1989. He led the Cowgirls to their first conference title in 1986 as they took home the Big 8 Cross Country Championship. He also led the Cowboys to a cross country conference title in 1995 and won the Big 8 Coach of the Year award that season. During his tenure, the Cowboys made 12 NCAA Cross Country Championships appearances, finishing as high as third at the 1995 NCAA Championships. He also coached three individual NCAA Champions during his Oklahoma State tenure.
Crockett served the OSU track & field and cross country programs from 1976 to his retirement as an aide to Coach Ralph Tate. He was elected to the Oklahoma Distance Running Hall of Fame and served on the USA Track & Field Board of Directors from 1994-2001. He was a recipient of the 2002 USA Track & Field President's Award and also served as the Dean at the University of Idaho from 1967-68 prior to his work at OSU.
