SAN MARCOS, Texas – A four-RBI performance from Amanda Hasler and three hits from Aubrey Jones lifted the No. 24/19 Oklahoma State softball team to a 17-0 run-rule win in five innings over Brown Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Softball Stadium.
OSU improved to 11-4 on the season, including a 5-0 outing this weekend, while Brown fell to 0-3. The Pokes outscored their opponents by a combined margin of 58-1 this weekend, with four run-rule victories.
After taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning, the Cowgirls broke the game open in the second with 11 runs, five of which were scored before recording an out. Claire Timm, Gabby Castillo, Rosie Davis and Amanda Hasler all notched RBI base hits in the inning, which saw 18 batters in total come to the plate.
The 11-run inning marked the 10th time in program history that OSU plated at least 10 runs in an inning.
The Cowgirls were kept quiet until the fifth inning, when they plated four more runs off a Jones RBI double, a bases-loaded walk from Lexi McDonald, an RBI fielder's choice from Elle McCloskey, and a wild pitch that brought home Castillo.
Preslee Downing improved to 3-0 on the season in a dominant display that saw her strike out four Bears in 4.0 innings of work. Madison Hoffman came in to close things out in the fifth. Brown's Edie Cobb took the loss and fell to 0-2 on the year.
