Cowboy Baseball Picks Up Second Win At GCU
February 21, 2026 | Cowboy Baseball
With the win, the Cowboys improved to 3-3 and took a 2-1 advantage in the series, which concludes Sunday at 2 p.m. (CDT).
Kollin Ritchie, Aidan Meola and Sebastian Norman each had three hits and combined for seven RBIs, with Meola driving in three runs and Ritchie and Norman two apiece.
Kai Fyke came out of the bullpen in relief of starter Mario Pesca and picked up the first win of his career as he worked three shutout innings and allowed only one hit. Noah Wech earned his first-career save as he kept the Lopes off the scoreboard over the final two frames and tallied a pair of strikeouts.
GCU (2-4) took the game's initial lead in the first inning, getting a two-out, two-RBI single from Tanner Johns, and held that advantage until the third.
In that inning, the Pokes rallied for five runs on five hits to go on top. A two-RBI triple by Ritchie plated the first two runs before a two-run, opposite-field homer off the bat of Meola made the score 4-2. OSU then extended its lead to three on an RBI single by Terrance Bowen.
The lead did not last long, however, as in the bottom of the frame, the Lopes tied the game on a three-run home run by Billy Scaldeferri.
OSU answered with another big rally in its next at bat. Following a leadoff double by Ezra Essex, one of his two hits on the day, Danny Wallace collected his first-career hit and RBI with a single to put the Pokes back on top. A single by Meola brought home another run before a wild pitch made the score 8-5. Up next, Norman picked up an RBI single of his own to cap the scoring.
The Cowboys reached double digits in the sixth. Ritchie led off the inning with a double, and two batters later, Norman picked up another RBI when he doubled to left field to push the lead to 10-5.
GCU cut into the lead in the seventh, getting a two-out, two-run homer from Cannon Peery off Drew Blake to make the score 10-7.
But Wech slammed the door, retiring the side in order in the ninth to secure the win.
