Cowboy Golf Stands In Fourth After Day One In Hawaii

KOHALA COAST, Hawaii – Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened play at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate on Thursday with a 267 to stand in a tie for fourth place at Mauna Lani's North Course.
The Cowboys' 21-under tally tied them with Texas Tech and put them two shots out of third place, which is held by Arizona State, at the par-72, 6,913-yard layout.
Auburn opened at 256 to lead the way, while Stanford was second at 261.
A pair of Cowboys fired opening 65s to share ninth place with juniors Preston Stout and Gaven Lane each carding 7-under scores on the day.Â
For the third year in a row, Stout got out of the gate quickly at the event. In each of the past two years, the All-American has fired a 62 to open the event and match the school's 18-hole scoring mark. Over those 54 holes, Stout has tallied 24 birdies and two eagles against just one bogey.
Junior Eric Lee finished the day tied for 28th place at 4-under 68, while sophomore Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson was a stroke back with a 69 to tie for 42nd place.
Junior Ethan Fang rounded out the starting five with a 73 to stand in a tie for 92nd place.
Redshirt freshman Collin Bond is competing individually and carded a 68 of his own to open play.
The Cowboys will begin their second round tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. (CST) and will be grouped with Hawaii-Hilo, Auburn and Arizona State.
