Q&A with Cowboy Football linebacker Ethan Wesloski
March 11, 2026 | Cowboy Football
Oklahoma State redshirt senior linebacker Ethan Wesloski
On his mindset:
"I definitely try to outthink my opponent and know what they're going to be in before they know what they're gonna be in. At the end of the day, there is a toughness aspect to it, so you have to come down, you have to set an edge, you have to get off blockers. What sets me apart is my ability to know where I fit in a scheme at all times, and that's something that I pride myself on, too."
On what he enjoys about the new team:
"It's great to get with some of the new guys. I enjoy the player-coach part of it because it brings you together as a group, too. Being able to connect with the guys, and sit around at dinner and just hang out, talk some football, learn the game that we all love to play. It's fun to just bring people along with you, it's the best part of being a player."Â
On his favorite part of Oklahoma State:
"I love the athletic community here in general. Going to wrestling duals is awesome. I've been to baseball a couple of times, also awesome. I've been to a couple of basketball games, it was great. The whole community comes around to the athletes so well. It's such a great town, and being able to be a part of that is awesome. We get stopped every time we come out, and people always say 'we're so happy for you all to be here.' So being a part of this community, it's really special. Having all my boys here is also great, but I'm also getting to meet a lot of new people."
On how he has adjusted to living in Stillwater:
"It's windy, really windy. There's nothing stopping this wind. It's great, I'm a country guy at heart. I like being out in the land, like to hunt, like to fish, like to golf, but it's not bad. I'm four hours from home. I love it out here. I couldn't be happier."Â
On his goals at OSU:
"I come into the mindset of 1-0 every day, no matter what the challenge is, no matter what the objective is, I need to win the day. Win a championship, win the Big 12, go make a run in the college football playoffs. At the end of the day, I came here to be the best linebacker in the Big 12, so that's what my mission's going to be."Â
On how the new team is coming together:
"We're doing a good job off the field. Linebacker-wise, we're a really close group right now. We go out to eat every Thursday. We're always doing something together. We were with the defensive line one time and with the corners the other time, so we're all just trying to come together as a big group. I think that translates so well to the field, too."
On how his background in baseball can translate onto the field:
"The coordination aspect, and knowing that slumps happen. I was 0-for-31 at one point, it doesn't get much worse than that, but having the mindset to just keep going, just keep getting up there, keep playing hard, keep going. Play after play after play, just keep going and eventually it'll fall your way, so the mindset part of it helps me a lot.Â
On looking forward to playing in Boone Pickens Stadium:
"I'm excited for it. I keep getting told that this is the place that gets rowdy, so I'm ready for it. I'm gonna put some ear covers in my helmet so I can hear Coach (Skyler) Cassity. It'll be good. I am excited for it."Â
