Cowgirl Equestrian Begins Big 12 Title Defense Against Baylor

No. 6 Oklahoma State hosts the Big 12 Championship this week, opening tournament play March 27 against No. 10 Baylor. Competition is set to begin at 10 a.m. The Cowgirls enter as the tournament's top seed, while the Bears are seeded fourth. No. 3 seed Fresno State will face No. 2 seed TCU in the other semifinal. With a win, Oklahoma State would advance to the championship meet on March 28 to face the winner of Fresno State and TCU. The Cowgirls enter the postseason riding a five-meet conference championship streak and will look to capture their sixth consecutive Big 12 title on their home turf.
About the Cowgirls
Head coach Larry Sanchez, in his 27th year at the helm, leads the Cowgirls alongside seventh-year assistant Laura Brainard, first-year assistant Ashley Duda and Jody Brainard, who is in his third year with the program and first as an assistant coach.
Searching for Six
Oklahoma State has an opportunity to capture its sixth consecutive Big 12 Championship this weekend, continuing an unprecedented run of success. In each of the past five championship meets, the Cowgirls have defeated TCU in the finals. Oklahoma State leads the conference with 11 Big 12 titles in program history. Baylor ranks second with four, while TCU and Fresno State are each seeking their first conference championship.

Who to Watch
June Roberson enters the postseason with a 7-1-1 record on the season and a 34-15-3 mark in her career. Her 34 wins rank sixth in program history in Horsemanship. Roberson earned All-America and All-Big 12 honors last season and is positioned to contend for both accolades again in 2026.
Coming off an award-filled February, Bella D'Onofrio carried her momentum into March with a season-high score of 78.75 at SMU, earning her second MOP of the season. The victory marked her sixth consecutive point to close the regular season and improved her record to 7-2 on the year.
Emma Filiatreau leads the team with five MOPs this season, earning the honor in more than half of her rides. The 2025 All-American holds a 7-1-1 record and sits two wins shy of 30 for her career.
