Cowboy Football Wraps Up 2026 Spring Game
April 18, 2026 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATERÂ - The Cowboy football team wrapped up its 2026 spring practice season Saturday, as the offense beat the defense, 42-33, in front of 13,000 fans at the Spring Game at Boone Pickens Stadium.
The day included a scrimmage that lasted nearly 90 minutes, in-game interviews with past and current Cowboys, music from the OSU marching band and a fan meet-and-greet with the entire team on the field to conclude the day.
The game opened with a big momentum play as safety Cameron Epps hauled in an interception on deep pass on the first pass play of the game to put up seven points for the defense. Quarterback Drew Mestemaker then completed a 26-yard pass to wide receiver Justin Bowlick to even up the score.
Halfway through the action and from his own end zone, Mestemaker then completed a deep pass down the field for 98 yards to wide receiver Chris Barnes to extend the offense's lead. The offense kept their momentum going with a 25-yard drive that was capped with a 1-yard Caleb Hawkins touchdown run to make the score 22-12.
Mestemaker later connected with Wyatt Young down the seam for a 38-yard touchdown, marking Mestemaker's third score of the afternoon. Freshman quarterback Luke Tepas also found fellow freshman Jabarie Thornton for a redzone touchdown, adding six more points to the offense's total.
Defensive end Jaleel Johnson recorded a pair of sacks and tackles for loss to lead the defensive effort, and kickers Sam Keltner and Joseph Kim made multiple field goals on the day.
Looking ahead, the Cowboys open the 2026 season on the road at Tulsa on Saturday, September 5.
