Cowboy Tennis drops match against Arizona State

STILLWATER — The Oklahoma State men's tennis team fell to Arizona State, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at Greenwood Tennis Center
The Cowboys move to 14-9 on the season and 1-5 in Big 12 play. While Arizona State improves to 16-8 (3-3) on the season.
Starting with doubles, court two saw Arizona State's Milos Mikovic and Ofek Shimanov defeat OSU's pairing of Alessio Basile and Haydar Gokpinar, 6-4. OSU's Nicolas Kobelt and Aaron Williams responded with a win against Roi Ginat and Jelani Starr, 7-5, on court one. The win marks a team-high 12th win for the duo on the campaign.
With the doubles point on the line, in their second match as a pairing this season, Derek Pham and Ian Bracks fell to Shu Matsuoka and Niels Villard, 7-5, as Arizona State secured the doubles point.
Moving on to singles play, ASU started out strong, rattling off six first sets, but the Cowboys battled back to force third sets on half the courts.
Court one saw ASU's Shimanov defeat Basile, 7-5, 6-1. On court five, Villard defeated OSU's Williams, 7-5, 6-4, to claim another point for the Sun Devils; and Ginat sealed the match for ASU, defeating Gokpinar in a tight match, 7-6 (1), 7-5.
With the match settled, courts two, three and four went unfinished.
The Cowboys return to action against No. 5 TCU on Thursday night at 5 p.m. at Greenwood Tennis Center.
