Q&A with Cowboy Football tight end Donovan Green
April 07, 2026 | Cowboy Football
On adapting to different colleges…
"Everywhere is gonna be hard, but being able to take in what they give you, study a playbook, be able to be coachable in every aspect, be able to take criticism. That's how you learn from mistakes to get better."
On the North Texas transfers' impact…
"It's been really nice having guys who know the playbook and are able to coach us up because they've been through it, they're veterans with it. Being that this is my third school, I mean I have had five offenses. I have had a new offense every year, so I'm used to being able to dive into a playbook, learn something new and be able to learn that, so there's nothing new for me."
On the impact new tight ends coach Drew Svoboda has had…
"Coach Svoboda is a great coach. You can tell he genuinely cares about us and he gives great feedback in everything that we do. He's not just out there just yelling at us just to yell at us. He's coaching us so anytime you have that, it's easy to be on the field and do what you're supposed to do."
On what he wants to achieve this season…
"My personal goal is to get on the field and be the best I can. It's been a while since I've been able to contribute heavily to the team and be that guy on the team and be able to get out there and catch passes and run block. This is an opportunity for me to get out there and do that. I'm really grateful for it. Team-goal-wise, everybody wants to win. I haven't been in a place that's won at a high level yet, so I'm excited to do that this season."
On how the team has come together in a short time…
"It's crazy, but the behind the scenes of having a team and having chemistry and having guys who are here for the right reasons and are able to talk to other guys that they don't know and not have cliques and fellowship with everybody. It's really nice to have, and you can tell on the field, the connection that we have."
