Cowgirl Golf remains in third at NCAA Championship
May 24, 2026 | Cowgirl Golf
CARLSBAD, Calif. – The Oklahoma State women's golf team resumed play at the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship on Saturday, holding steady in third place through 36 holes.
The Cowgirls combined for a 2-under 286, giving Oklahoma State back-to-back under-par rounds after carding a 283 (-5) on Friday. OSU is one of just three teams below par on the week and trails first-place Stanford by five shots and second-place USC by two heading into Sunday.
Yu-Chu Chen's 4-under 68 was highlighted by a hole-in-one on Omni La Costa's par-3 16th hole, the first ace of her collegiate career. Chen's 68 tied for the second-lowest round of the day and led her to a 48-spot jump up the individual leaderboard to 12th place. The true freshman's nine birdies are tied for fifth-most among the 156-player field.
Marta Silchenko continued her historic junior campaign with a 2-under 70, matching her Friday scorecard to move into seventh place. After going bogey-free yesterday, Silchenko recorded only one on Saturday. The round marked Silchenko's 19th at par-or-better this season and moves her within three of tying Caroline Hedwall's single-season Oklahoma State record.
After tying for Friday's low round, Ellie Bushnell remained steady with a 1-over 73. Bushnell sits in a tie for 12th alongside fellow Cowgirl Yu-Chu Chen, just three shots off the individual lead.
Tarapath Panya and Summer Lee are each 5-over after the tournament's opening two rounds. Panya carded a 75 (+3) on Saturday, while Lee added a 77 (+5).
The Cowgirls return to action Sunday at 6:30 a.m. PST for the third round of the NCAA Championship. A cut will take place upon the day's conclusion, with the top 15 teams advancing to a fourth and final round of stroke play. Oklahoma State will be paired with first-place Stanford and second-place USC.
