Nine Cowboys Set To Compete At U.S. Open

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team will be well represented at this year's U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York. In addition to three current Cowboys, OSU will have six former standouts in the field at the historic venue.
All-Americans Preston Stout, Ethan Fang and Eric Lee will all be competing this week with OSU coaches Alan Bratton, Stratton Nolen and Donnie Darr serving as their caddies, respectively.
Joining the trio in New York will be Wyndham Clark, Rickie Fowler, Viktor Hovland, Alex Norén, Sam Stevens and Peter Uihlein.
Wyndham Clark — In 2023, Clark became the program's first U.S. Open champion with his win at Los Angeles Country Club. He will be making his sixth career start at the event. He currently ranks 34th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Ethan Fang — Fang gained entry into the event via his win last summer at The Amateur Championship. The start will be his third in a major championship after competing at last summer's Open Championship and The Masters this past spring. He has also made starts at the PGA Tour's Procore Championship and the DP World Tour's Hero Dubai Desert Classic. Fang is currently the No. 8-ranked amateur in the world.
Rickie Fowler — Fowler currently ranks 41st in the OWGR and will be making his 15th U.S. Open start. He has made the cut in nine of his previous 14 starts at the event. He has finished in the top 10 on four occasions, tying for fifth place in 2023 and 2017, earning a runner-up showing in 2014 and tying for 10th in 2013.
Viktor Hovland — Hovland has made four cuts in his previous seven U.S. Open starts with his best finish coming last year when he placed third at Oakmont. He has also tied for 12th, 13th and 19th place at the event. He currently carries a No. 28 world ranking.
Eric Lee — The rising senior for the Cowboys will be making his first U.S. Open start after firing a 6-under 136 total at Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento. Lee currently ranks No. 27 in the WAGR and was instrumental in OSU's run to its 12th NCAA title in 2025.
Alex Norén — A 12-time winner on the DP World Tour, Norén will be making his 11th U.S. Open start this week. His best finish was a tie for 17th place in 2020 and he also tied for 25th place in 2018 at Shinnecock Hills. He enters play ranked No. 20 in the world.
Sam Stevens — Stevens has made three U.S. Open starts and has made the cut all three times. His best finish came last year at Oakmont where he tied for 23rd place. He was also in the field in 2022 and 2023, tying for 43rd and 49th, respectively. He carries a No. 54 world ranking.
Preston Stout — The No. 2 ranked amateur in the world, Stout will make his U.S. Open debut after his victory at the NCAA Championship. The first-ever player to win three Big 12 titles, Stout competed earlier this spring at the PGA Tour's CJ CUP Byron Nelson and made a Tour start last summer at the 3M Open. With his NCAA win, he will also be in the field at The Masters next year.
Peter Uihlein — Uihlein will compete in his first U.S. Open since the 2018 event at Shinnecock Hills after posting rounds of 67 and 66 at Dallas Athletic Club last month. The 2010 U.S. Amateur champion also competed at the U.S. Open in 2011 and 2017.
