Cowboy Baseball’s Conover Picked On Day One Of MLB Draft

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State outfielder Alex Conover was selected in the fourth round of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft by San Diego.
The Padres took Conover in the fourth round with the 134th overall pick. He is the 78th MLB Draft pick in the Josh Holliday head coaching era (since 2013), with 38 of those coming in the top 10 rounds and 19 in the top five.
Conover, who has spent the last two seasons in an OSU uniform after beginning his career at Cowley College, enjoyed a breakout junior year for the Cowboys in 2026 and earned All-Big 12 Conference First Team honors.
In 58 games, Conover led the Pokes with a .357 batting average while slugging 14 home runs and 14 doubles and driving in 37 runs. He also paced OSU with 16 stolen bases and a .476 on-base percentage.
In Big 12 play, Conover posted a league-high .416 batting average and tallied nine doubles, 11 homers and 24 RBIs.
As a sophomore in 2025, Conover played in 41 games for the Pokes, including 30 as a starter, and hit .254 with six homers and 22 RBIs.
