Cowgirl Soccer duo tabbed Big 12’s best

IRVING, Texas – After leading Oklahoma State to a win over 14th-ranked TCU in last Thursday's Big 12 opener, Cowgirls Avery Bass and Emmy Hedden collected conference honors for Week Six.
Bass was named the Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week, while Hedden was chosen as the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week. Their play helped OSU post its first win over a ranked team since the 2024 season opener, as well as claim its first Big 12 victory since October 2024.
A fifth year from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, playing in her first-ever Big 12 game, Bass recorded a season and OSU career high with seven saves against a TCU squad that had 25 shots in the match.
Bass tallied three saves in the opening half and four in the final 45 minutes, and her seven saves were the most by a Big 12 goalie on the opening week of conference play. OSU is now 3-0-1 with Bass starting in goal.
Hedden, a native of Goddard, Kansas, played all 90 minutes in the match against the Horned Frogs, and the sophomore wingback helped seal the win with her first goal of the season and second of her career in the 67th minute.
