Cowgirl Soccer falls at Baylor

WACO, Texas – Oklahoma State had its five-game unbeaten streak snapped Thursday night as No. 9 Baylor handed the Cowgirls a 2-1 loss at Betty Lou Mays Field.
With the loss, OSU fell to 5-3-2 overall and 1-1-0 in Big 12 play, while the Bears improved to 8-1-1 and 1-0-1 in the league.
BU finished with a 19-9 advantage in shots in the match and also tallied eight corner kicks to OSU's one. Cowgirl goalkeeper Avery Bass finished with six saves, one shy of her season high set last week.
The Cowgirls took the lead just four minutes into the match. After receiving a pass from Sonora DeFini, Laudan Wilson dribbled past a defender and blasted a shot from 22-yards off the far post and in for her third goal of the season.
BU found the equalizer in the 12th minute. Aryanna Jimison took a 12-yard shot that was saved by Bass, but the Cowgirl goalie could not hang on to the ball and Jimison was able to beat a pair of defenders and send in the rebound to make the score 1-1.
The score remained tied at intermission, with Baylor owning a slim 7-5 edge in shots at the break and both goalies having a pair of saves.
The Bears broke the deadlock in the 56th minute when Noelle Sather ripped a low 30-yard shot that snuck just inside the far post to put the home team up 2-1.
OSU recorded four shots in the final 45 minutes, with DeFini's attempt in the 61st minute and Keaton Mitchell's in the 85th minute both being saved by BU goalie Azul Alvarez.
The Cowgirls return to action Sunday at Houston. Kickoff is set for noon.
