Oklahoma State Head Coach John Smith
On the match as a whole
"I felt like we came out a little flat-footed tonight. They kind of slowed us down. They got our head tied up and got our arms tied up and we didn't seem too excited to put anymore energy. I did like Rosholt with a big third period. The guy is a scrappy little guy."
On always being on the offensive
"You just do it. You can't worry if you make a mistake. It's the only way to stretch scores out. I don't think we did a whole lot of that tonight.”
On Freshman Jake Peck suiting up
"Jacob Peck, a freshman from Marlow, it was good to see him get his first match of the season. He wrestled a pretty good kid tonight."
"It was a good effort by Jordan. It looked aggressive and he was very aggressive trying to get the pin."
OSU 133-pounder Jordan Oliver
On his first-period fall
“Coach preaches, no matter who you're wrestling or what team or opponent, you've got to go out there and treat every match the same. So I'm looking at that match as if it's Ness again. I'm getting ready and I'm getting a good mindset to go out there and put up some points and dominate the match.”
On adjusting to Northern Iowa's conservative style
“I don't think we feel that we had to be the aggressor, I think that's our style of wrestling. We're always on the attack. Everybody on our team, from 125 to 285, their style is attacking people and putting up big points on the board. It was just another obstacle we had to overcome. If they don't want to wrestle, we have to make them wrestle.”
On looking forward to Missouri on Sunday
“Missouri is a big one. At the beginning of the season at the Central Missouri Open, it was basically an Oklahoma State and Missouri showdown. They brought their strongest team and we brought a lot of guys and a lot of matchups were going both ways. It's definitely something to look forward to. They're in the Big 12 so we have to go and hopefully dominate that. It's a real big match for conference and to leave Missouri with the thought that we are the dominant team.”
