Cowboys Earn First Road Victory

FAYETTEVILLE Ark.- Oklahoma State earned its first road victory of the season against Arkansas as the Cowboys defeated the Razorbacks 5-2 on Sunday.
Julian Cash and Luke Hammond secured the doubles point on court one for the Cowboys with a 6-3 win over Adam Sanjurjo and Oscar Mesquida. The English pair has yet to lose a doubles match since the start of the spring season. Cash now boasts 67 doubles wins as a Cowboy moving him up to the eighth spot for all-time program doubles wins.
Brady Draheim and Jurence Mendoza were the first Cowboys to earn a doubles win today as they took down Pedro Alonso and Jose Alonso, 6-2. The two Cowboys have earned three wins a tandem this season.
Artur Dubinski and Eleftherious Theodorou fell to Arkansas' Jose Salazar and Josh Howard-Tripp, 6-1.
The Cowboys took a 1-0 lead heading into singles action.
Senior Tristan Meraut was the first to finish as he fell to Arkansas' Oscar Mesquida, 4-6, 0-6, tying the match at 1-1.
Soon after, Hammond for the fourth-straight match, secured the first singles point for the Cowboys in straight sets defeating Jose Alonso, 6-3, 6-4.
Cash earned the next win for the Cowboys defeating Jose Salazar. The senior Cowboy won the first set in a thrilling tie-break 7-6 (7-5), and then won the second set, 6-2.
No. 93 Mathieu Scaglia would secure the win for the Cowboys as he split sets with Arkansas' Josh Howard-Tripp, 6-3, 2-6 but then surge back in the third set to win, 6-2.
Dubinski soon followed as he fell to Adam Sanjurjo, 1-6, 7-5, 4-6.
Mendoza earned the final point for the Cowboys as he defeated Alex Reco 6-4 in the first set, fell in tie break in the second set, 6-7 (7-9), and came back in the third 1-0 (10-5).
This marks the Cowboys' 10th straight victory over the Razorbacks since 2004.
Next up, OSU hosts ITA Kickoff Weekend where the Cowboys will face Kentucky on Saturday at noon at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
