Cowboys Record Two Victories in Sunday Doubleheader

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's men's tennis team was victorious in both of its matches during a Sunday doubleheader at the Greenwood Tennis Center, defeating Memphis, 4-2, and Oral Roberts, 4-0.
The Cowboys have now won five straight matches, and seven of their last eight overall.
"We had a pretty rough weekend," associate head coach Scoville Jenkins said. "The match against Memphis was a pretty physical one. We've been doing really well in doubles and our number one team had a big test. Everybody fought hard and it was a good team win."
In the first match of the day, the Pokes nearly took the doubles point for the fourth match in a row.
Memphis' Oscar Cutting and David Stevenson defeated No. 22 Mathieu Scaglia/Maxim Tybar, 6-1, on court one. OSU responded as Brady Draheim and Matej Vocel bested Matt Story and Jeremy Taylor of Memphis, 6-4.
It came down to court two, where Luke Hammond and Emile Hudd fell in a tiebreak to Jan Pallares and Patrick Sydow, 7-6 (7-5).
The Cowboys quickly tied the match in singles, as Matej Vocel defeated No. 123 Chris Patzanovsky, 6-2, 6-2, on court one.
OSU's lead was short-lived as Oscar Cutting beat Luke Hammond, 6-4, 6-4, to give the Tigers a 2-1 advantage.
OSU proceeded to win three straight singles matches, concluding with Emile Hudd's 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory on court five over David Stevenson, marking the fourth time this season Hudd has clinched a match for the Cowboys.
"It's just about trusting myself, backing myself," Hudd said. "I put a lot of practice in and I put in a lot of hard work, and when I get to these moments, they're tough, but it's why I came to college. This is what I want to do, so I feel pretty good to win this in a make or break."
Against Oral Roberts, the Pokes took the doubles point thanks to the tandems of Matej Vocel and Brady Draheim, as well as No. 22 Mathieu Scaglia and Maxim Tybar.
Tybar and Scaglia bested Nikola Boskov and Barnabas Koncz, 6-1, while Draheim and Vocel beat Eddy Leardini and Kenneth Boykin, 6-4.
In singles, Maxim Tybar dominated ORU's Kenneth Boykin, 6-0, 6-0, on court two. Then almost simultaneously, Hudd defeated Nikola Boskov, 6-2, 6-1, and Scaglia bested Andre Russo, 6-4, 6-1, to clinch the match.
The Pokes are back in action Wednesday as they travel to take on Tulsa at 5 p.m.
