Cowgirls Return Home With 75-33 Win Over Southern

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak on Wednesday with a 75-33 win over Southern in front of 1,848 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The Cowgirls, who were playing their first home game since Nov. 17, improved to 4-4 on the year.
Southern used an 11-1 run in the middle of the first quarter to take an 11-5 lead before the Cowgirls answered with the game's next four. The Jaguars forced nine Cowgirl turnovers in the first 10 minutes on their way to a 13-9 lead.
OSU opened the second on a 6-0 run capped by a 3-pointer from Neferatali Notoa to move back in front, 15-13, midway through the second. The Cowgirl defense held the Jaguars scoreless in the frame for nearly six and a half minutes.
The Cowgirls led by one before back-to-back baskets from Taylen Collins extended the margin to 20-15 with 90 seconds left in the half and forcing a Southern timeout.
OSU would close the half on an 8-0 run and outscore Southern by a 15-2 count in the second period to on its way to a 24-15 lead.
In the third, the Cowgirls opened with six quick points to extend the margin to 15 and force another Southern timeout two minutes into the half. OSU would make it a 13-0 run over the first four minutes of the half to push the margin to 22.
The Cowgirls got back-to-back treys from Lauren Fields and Notoa to push the margin to 46-17 with three minutes left in the period.
OSU outscored the Jaguars 32-5 in the third quarter to hold a 56-20 advantage with 10 minutes to go. The outburst was the highest point total in a quarter by the Cowgirls since December of 2018.
Fields was one of four OSU players to reach double figures, scoring 18 points, while Collins added 15. Ruthie Udoumoh scored a career-high 13 points, while Notoa added 11.
The Cowgirls shot 52 percent from the floor in the contest.
