December 14, 2025 | Cowboy Wrestling
MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The No. 5 Oklahoma State wrestling team defeated No. 17 West Virginia, 34-3, at Hope Coliseum on Sunday.
The Cowboys won nine of 10 bouts, with Landon Robideau (157), Alex Facundo (174) and Konner Doucet (HWT) collecting bonus points. The win improves OSU to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play, while the loss drops the Mountaineers to 5-2 and 0-1 in the Big 12.
In a rematch of last year's 125-pound Big 12 championship bout, No. 8 Troy Spratley avenged his title loss to No. 7 Jett Strickenberger with a 6-2 win. Spratley opened the match with a takedown in the first and rode out Strickenberger to end the period. The Cowboy 125-pounder followed it up with a reversal in the second that was too much to overcome for Strickenberger.
Fresh off a 174-pound title at the Cougar Clash, No. 14 Facundo continued his dominant tear with a 20-5 technical fall victory over Leo Contino. In Facundo's last four bouts, he's picked up technical fall wins in three of them. Heavyweight No. 7 Doucet added another impressive win to his record, pinning WVU's Wilson Spires in the opening period. It was the fourth pin of his career in 82 career bouts.
True freshman No. 2 Landon Robideau (157) moved to 7-0 on the season with his sixth bonus-point win with a technical fall over Cole Evans. Robideau now has three major decisions and three technical fall wins just seven contests into his collegiate career. Other true freshmen, No. 2 Sergio Vega (141) and No. 2 Dee Lockett (165), improved to 7-0 in their collegiate careers with their wins in Morgantown today.
184-pounder No. 10 Zack Ryder continued his impressive run after last weekend's Cougar Classic title with a 2-1 win over No. 21 Ian Bush. No. 7 Cody Merrill (197) also picked up a ranked win over No. 22 Rune Lawrence. The win is Merrill's third ranked win of the year.
OSU's 149-pounder No. 17 Casey Swiderski collected a pair of takedowns in the opening period to propel himself to an 8-4 win over TJ Langley, marking his fifth win in his last six bouts.
Ronnie Ramirez dropped his bout against No. 19 Gunner Andrick for the Cowboys' lone loss of the day after giving up a late takedown in the third.
Next up, the Cowboys head to Lincoln to face No. 6 Nebraska on December 21 at 1 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
