Cowboy Tennis Splits Doubleheader in Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash. – Oklahoma State's men's tennis team swept Seattle, 4-0, and fell to Washington, 4-0, in its doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.

With the split, OSU moved to 2-6 on the season.

The Cowboys opened the doubleheader against Washington, where the Cowboys and Huskies split the first two doubles courts. Nedim Suko and Soham Purohit defeated Isaac Becroft and Derek Pham, 6-4, and Alessio Basile and Nicolas Kobelt bested No. 37 Cesar Bouchelaghem and Dzianis Zharyn, 7-6 (4).

The Huskies claimed the doubles point on court three, where Rohan Belday and Brett Pearson downed Finn Hopfe and Thomas Gadecki, 7-6 (7).

Washington clinched the match with straight-set victories on courts one, three and six. No. 59 Bouchelaghem defeated No. 57 Becroft, 6-4, 6-1, Purohit took down Pham, 7-6 (4), 6-3, and Belday defeated Hopfe, 6-3, 6-3.

In the second match of the afternoon, the Cowboys claimed the doubles point to open play against Seattle. Bracks and Ben Stecker defeated Yuan Lu and Yu-Han Hsieh, 6-2, and Basile and Kobelt improved to 4-0 as a duo, downing Filip Stipic and Jun Sasagawa, 6-1.

Stecker doubled the Cowboy lead with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Hsieh, and Pham pushed the match to the brink with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Sasagawa.

Bracks clinched the victory for the Cowboys on court four with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Lu.

Next up, OSU heads to Tennessee for a pair of matches in the Volunteer State against Middle Tennessee State on Feb. 14 and Memphis on Feb. 16.
