COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Oklahoma State men's outdoor track & field had a standout day, with Alex Stitt, Brian Musau and Fouad Messaoudi all punching their tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in their respective events.
Kicking off the evening, Stitt delivered one of the most dramatic moments of the day in the 1,500 Meters. Coming into the final 100 meters at the back of the pack, Stitt unleashed a stunning kick to surge into second place and secure an automatic qualifying spot with a time of 3:40.11. He has now qualified for three straight NCAA Outdoor Championships and will be looking to make his first career NCAA final in two weeks.
Later in the night, Brian Musau and Fouad Messaoudi both advanced to nationals with clutch performances in the 5,000 Meters. Messaoudi took the lead with 400 meters to go before Musau surged ahead in the final 150 meters to pass Messaoudi and New Mexico's Habtom Samuel to take the heat win.
Both Cowboys punched their tickets to nationals, earning automatic qualifiers with their first and third-place finishes in their heat, respectively. Musau clocked a time of 13:32.05 and Messaoudi finished in 13:34.34. Between Friday's qualifying trio and Denis Kipngetich in the 10,000 Meters, the Cowboys once again bring a strong distance contingent to Eugene.
The Cowgirls wrap up the weekend Saturday at 7:05 p.m. CT with Kaylie Politza continuing her quest for a national bid in the 800 Meters, followed by Victoria Lagat, Gentry Turner, and Isca Chelangat aiming to punch their tickets in the 5,000 Meters. Oklahoma State will also look to qualify its 4x400 relay team to close out the West Prelims. The entirety of the NCAA West Preliminary rounds are streamed live on ESPN+ and live results for the meet can be found here.
