October 12, 2026 | Cowboy Tennis
LINCOLN, Neb. — The Oklahoma State men's tennis team wrapped up a successful weekend at the ITA Central Regional Championships at Nebraska's Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center.
Hank Trondson and Sydney Zick both advanced to the singles quarterfinals, with Trondson also reaching the doubles semifinals alongside Thomas Gadecki.
Trondson defeated each of his first three opponents in straight sets, highlighted by a Round of 16 win over nationally-ranked Daniel Uta of Oklahoma. The senior from Nashville's run ended with a 7-5, 6-4 loss to OU's Tito Chavez.
Zick -- a freshman from Neu-Ulm, Germany – also finished the weekend 3-1 with a three-set win over Memphis' Loan Lestir in the Round of 16, followed by a loss to OU's 62nd-ranked Johan Alexander Rodriguez.
The Pokes collectively won a total of 18 singles and doubles matches over the course of the weekend. Five of the eight Cowboys who participated won at least one singles match in the main draw and all four doubles teams advanced to at least the Round of 16.
Trondson and Thomas Gadecki built on their momentum from the ITA All-American Championships, advancing to the semifinals. The duo's run ended against the eventual champions, Connor Smillie and Brendan Boland of Arkansas.
The Cowboys continue their fall campaign at the UTR PTT Norman this week.
