Run-rule victory caps Cowgirl Softball doubleheader sweep over Southeast Missouri
February 27, 2026 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER — The Oklahoma State softball team capped its doubleheader with a decisive 9-1 win over Southeast Missouri in six innings Friday night, using a five-run sixth inning to secure the run-rule victory at Cowgirl Stadium.
With the win, OSU improved to 14-4 overall and pushed its winning streak to eight games. Southeast Missouri fell to 3-12 on the season.
The Cowgirls broke open what had been a 4-1 game entering the bottom of the sixth. Aubrey Jones started the rally with a triple down the right field line. Claire Timm followed later in the inning with her third home run of the season, a blast to center field that extended the lead to 8-1. Madison Hoffman ended the game with a single up the middle that drove in the final run and secured the run rule victory.
Oklahoma State set the tone early, scoring one run in each of the first four innings. Rosie Davis played a key role in the early offense. In the first inning, she grounded out to bring home Jayelle Austin for the game's opening run. Davis added an RBI single in the second to give the Cowgirls a 2-0 advantage.
Aubrey Jones added to the lead in the fourth inning when she hit a solo home run to center field, her second of the year, giving OSU a 4-1 cushion. The steady offensive production kept pressure on the Redhawks' pitching staff throughout the night.
Preslee Downing (4-0) earned the win in the circle for the Cowgirls, tossing a complete game and allowing one run. She worked efficiently through six innings and limited Southeast Missouri's scoring opportunities.
Elliot Stinson (1-2) took the loss for SEMO after pitching three innings and allowing four runs while issuing three walks. Summer Branch entered in the fourth inning and finished the game for the Redhawks.
The Cowgirls will be back in action at 2 p.m. CT tomorrow against No. 9 Nebraska.
