Cowgirls drop close contest against No. 9/4 Nebraska, snap eight-game winning streak
February 28, 2026 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER, Okla. — A two-run single in the top of the sixth off the bat of Jordy Frahm pushed the No. 9/4 Nebraska Cornhuskers to a 4-3 win over No. 21/16 Oklahoma State in front of a record crowd at Cowgirl Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The loss moved the Cowgirls to 14-5 and ended an eight-game winning streak, while Nebraska improved to 14-5.
OSU took the lead in the bottom of the third inning, following a Rosie Davis ground ball that resulted in a throwing error from Nebraska's Ava Kuzsak and allowed two runs to score. The Cornhuskers responded in the following inning with a two-run home run from Malia Thoms to knot the game at two apiece.
The Cowgirls regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth after an RBI double by Jayden Jones. From there, both teams were kept in check until the decisive swing in the top of the sixth, when Frahm's single scored two runs for the victory. An errant throw from Davis caused Jones' foot to leave the bag at second base on a fielder's choice earlier in the inning, which extended the frame and gave the Cornhuskers a chance to plate their game-winning runs.
RyLee Crandall started for the Cowgirls and pitched four innings, allowing two runs with three strikeouts and no walks. Ruby Meylan (4-4) relieved Crandall to begin the fifth inning and took the loss in her 12th appearance of the season. Meylan tossed 3.0 innings with two runs (both unearned) and a pair of punchouts.
Nebraska starter Alexis Jensen pitched four innings and allowed one earned run. Frahm (4-3) relieved Jensen in the fifth and earned the win for the Cornhuskers. The two arms combined for 12 strikeouts on the day.
The contest featured six total errors and 12 total runners left on base (seven for Nebraska, five for OSU).
The Cowgirls saw a crowd of 2,049 pack into Cowgirl Stadium for the game, which set a new program record for the highest-attended game in OSU Softball history. The Cowgirls set a home opener attendance record on Thursday night with a crowd of 1,802.
Oklahoma State will return to action Sunday against South Dakota State at noon and conclude the series against Nebraska at 2:30 p.m. CT inside Cowgirl Stadium. Both contests will be streamed on ESPN+.
