February 04, 2026 | Cowgirl Basketball
TEMPE, Ariz. — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team fell to Arizona State, 74-69, on the road.
With the loss, the Cowgirls moved to 18-6 overall and 7-4 in conference play. Arizona State improved to 19-5 and 6-5 in the conference.
It was a slow start for both teams, but a few Achol Akot layups helped the Pokes grab an early lead. Lena Girardi knocked down three free throws to put OSU up by three, but ASU responded with a 9-2 run. The quarter ended with a Stailee Heard 3-pointer that gave Oklahoma State the lead heading into the second.
The second quarter featured back-and-forth runs as both teams fought for control. Neither side could create much separation, but a few Micah Gray buckets helped OSU take a one-point lead. However, a Sun Devil buzzer-beater sent Arizona State into halftime with a 31-29 advantage.
Coming out of the half, Haleigh Timmer hit two free throws to tie up the game, but it was largely Arizona State from there. Gray hit a 3-pointer with seven minutes remaining in the third quarter, which marked the closest OSU would get the rest of the period. ASU closed the quarter on a 19-9 run.
The Cowgirls opened the final quarter with a 9-2 run and cut the deficit to one, but Arizona State held firm. OSU struggled to find consistent offense, and the Sun Devils' defense helped maintain the lead. ASU sealed the game at the free-throw line in the final seconds.
Akot led the Cowgirls with 18 points and nine rebounds. Jadyn Wooten added 16 points, six rebounds and four assists.
The Cowgirls'Â next game will be against UCF at home on February 7 at 1 p.m. (CST)
